Vernon David Rammelsberg, 77, of Palo, died Tuesday, February 22, 2005, at his winter home in Texas. Services: 10:30 a.m., Saturday, February 26, 2005, at St. Stephen?s Lutheran Church, Atkins, by Rev. Doug Woltemath. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m., Friday, February 25, 2005, at the church. Burial: St. Stephen?s Cemetery, Atkins. Arrangements by Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara; his children, David Rammelsberg and wife Cathy of Palo, Gerald Rammelsberg and wife Carol of Palo and Carolyn Quimby and husband Jay of Marion; 10 grandchildren, Brooke Rammelsberg, Josie Norton and husband Mark, Kyla Rammelsberg, Chris Rammelsberg and wife Lynae, Eric Rammelsberg and wife Stacy, Marcy Munoz and husband Gustavo, Kimberly Little and husband Dennis, Kyle Frank and wife Jessika, Brad Quimby and Matt Quimby; 7 great-grandchildren; a sister, Doris Williams and husband Wendell of Atkins; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Vernon was born September 21, 1927, in Fairfax, the son of Elmer and Goldie (Snell) Rammelsberg. He graduated from Atkins High School in 1946 and was united in marriage to Barbara Jean Miller on October 15, 1950, in Marion. Vernon was a farmer for 60 years. He served on the Linn County REC Board of Directors for 20 years. Vernon also was a member of the Linn County Extension Office and Farm Bureau.
