Vernon Michael Althoff, 64, of Coggon, died Saturday, November 2nd, 2013, in Edgewood. Visitation: 4-7 p.m. on Tuesday, November 5, 2013, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Central City. There will be a celebration in honor of Vernon at 5 p.m. Wednesday, November 6, 2013, at Wolfey’s Wapsie Outback: 101 Water Street South, Quasqueston, IA 52326. Private family burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery in Ryan.
Survivors include his siblings, Lawrence Althoff of Coggon, Darlene (Ed) Offerman of Coggon, and Doris Kozlowski of Evanston, IL; nieces and nephews, Jim and Ken Thielen, Anita DeBo, Renee Hanson, Rebecca Hite, Charlotte Grill, and Nathan Kozlowski; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers-in-law, Vince Thielen and Greg Kozlowski.
Vernon was born on May 9, 1949, in Dubuque, IA, the son of Andrew and Agnes Nadermann (Althoff). Vernon was a member of JICCA. He has a passion for restoring and collecting Case tractors. He was a caring, sensitive, and compassionate man.
