Verna L. Gefaller, 71, of 343 Coral Dr., Hiawatha, died Friday, June 18, 2004, in her home, following a long illness. Services: 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 22, 2004, at the Zion Lutheran Church, Hiawatha, by the Rev. Dan Kreuger. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, June 21, 2004, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her children, Mark and wife Beth of Mt. Vernon, Michael and special friend, Dawn DeBow of Cedar Rapids, and Shari Wawrzyniak and husband John of Scottsdale, Arizona; her former daughter-in-law, Launa Meyer; and ten grandchildren, Matthew, Luke, Nathan, Sarah, Nick, Tasha, Derek, Megan, Trina and Bryce.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Lloyd.
Verna was born May 7, 1933, the daughter of George and Florence (Trout) Rubey, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. On June 13, 1951, she was united in marriage to Lloyd Gefaller. He died September 24, 1990. Verna owned and operated the American Handy Craft and Tandy Leather. She held a membership with the Zion Lutheran Church.
