Verlyn James "Bud" Davis

Verlyn J. “Bud” Davis, 72, of 1601 3rd Street S.W., Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Friday, February 15, 2008, in St. Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids following a long illness. Services: 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 19, 2008, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Dr. Glenn Hunt. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m., Monday, February 18, 2008, at the funeral home. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his daughter, Danette McFadden of Allen, Texas; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Sylvia (Charles) Wilkerson of North English and Sherry (Jim) Fangmann of Minnetonka, Minnesota; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Douglas Davis; and brother, JoWayne Davis.
Verlyn was born July 5, 1935, in Iowa County, the son of Verlyn and Iva (Thomas) Davis. He served in the U.S. Air Force for 17 years. Verlyn was an engineer at Rockwell Collins.
Verlyn was a fan of the Dallas Cowboys and the Cubs. His joys were fishing, his computer and being a jokester with his greatest joy being his family.
