Vera C. Thacher

Vera C. Thacher, 83, of Manchester, died Wednesday, March 1, 2006 at St. Luke?s Hospital in Cedar Rapids following complications of surgery.
Memorial services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday, March 4, 2006 at Grace United Methodist Church in Lamont by Pastor John Brockschink. Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Friday at the Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Manchester. Inurnment will be in Oakland Cemetery, Manchester, at a later date.
Vera was born December 4, 1922 in Manchester, the daughter of Floyd C. & F. Maiza (Ingrahm) Ryan. She attended school in Edgewood and at Lenox College for secretarial studies. Vera then worked for the Ration Board in Manchester. On June 1, 1946 Vera was united in marriage to Floyd Thacher in Kansas. The couple farmed north of Manchester. Vera also worked as a secretary for Baumgartner Gate Factory, Job Service of Iowa and Operation New View in Manchester.
Vera was a member of the Methodist Church, Eastern Star and Mother?s Club. She enjoyed studying genealogy and family histories. Vera enjoyed helping people and remained active into her 80?s.
Vera is survived by her husband, Floyd Thacher of Manchester; a son, Dr. Stephen (Pamela) Thacher of Lamont; three grandchildren, Brett, Brooke and Wendy Thacher; and two brothers, Roy L. "Doc? (Hannah) Ryan of Grants, New Mexico and Val I. (LaVonda) Ryan of Manchester.
Vera was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd & Maiza Ryan.
