Vera “Dorothy” Perrin, 87, of Central City, Iowa, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died peacefully Sunday, October 21, 2007, in her home. Services: 11:00 a.m., Thursday, October 25, 2007, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, October 24, 2007, at the funeral home. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her son, Lloyd (Linda) McClain of Marion; a daughter Vivian (Ward) Clausen of Central City; three sisters, Hazel Dayton of Beaumont, California, Pauline (Frank) Romero and Lorene Cook both of Cedar Rapids; two brothers, Chester (Hazel) Redmon of Fulton, Missouri and Perry (Evylean) Redmon of New Bloomfield, Missouri: eleven grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and seven great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Julie Redmon; 14 brothers and sisters; and her daughter, Bev Kohl of Cedar Rapids.
Dorothy was born March 8, 1920, in Muskogee, Oklahoma, one of 19 children of Harry and Julie Redmon.
Dorothy retired from Farmstead Foods after 31 years of service. She resided at Meadow Brooke Apartments before moving to her daughter’s home in Central City. Dorothy was very involved in playing cards at Meadow Brooke and the Witwer Senior Center. Dorothy loved to travel and spent a lot of time camping with her grandchildren. She loved to attend family reunions. She is loved by many and will be greatly missed.
