Vera May Johnson

Vera May Johnson, 88, of 2041 Sharwood Dr. NE, Cedar Rapids, died Monday, October 31, 2005, at West Ridge Care Center, Cedar Rapids, following a lengthy illness. Services: 1:00 p.m. Friday, November 4, 2005, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion, by Rev. Jay Jentink. Family will greet friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, November 3, 2005, at the funeral home. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her husband, Leslie; her children, Donald (Pamela Lipe) Johnson of River Falls, Wisconsin, Jean (Bjorn) Hedberg of Borlange, Sweden, and Rick (Karen) Johnson of Cedar Rapids; 15 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Wilma Thayer of Blaine, Minnesota, and Pauline Stohr of Nisswa, Minnesota.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Joel Haynes; a brother, James Myers; and a sister, Lula Korff.
Vera was born May 1, 1917, the daughter of Walter and Cora (Salmons) Myers, in Tebbetts, Missouri. On September 6, 1936, she married Leslie Johnson in North Liberty, Iowa. Vera was a 60-year member of the Calvary Baptist Church of Cedar Rapids.
