Vera Mildred Goedken

Vera Mildred Goedken, 89, of Manchester, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 4, 2023, at the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester. Visitation will be held from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 9, 2023, at Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Manchester. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church of Manchester with the Reverend Gabriel Anderson officiating. Burial will take place at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery of Manchester.
Vera was born on July 29, 1933, in Dyersville, Iowa, the daughter of Gregor A. and Marcella A. (Maiers) Goedken. She graduated from West Delaware High School in 1951. Vera worked for Gosling & Company as a secretary, retiring in 1995. After retiring she spent much of her time caring for her mother Marcella. Vera enjoyed bowling, golfing, traveling around the country, reading books, and doing crafts. She loved volunteering and knitted baby caps for the OB Department at Regional Medical Center in Manchester. She was a member of the St. Mary Catholic Church in Manchester and St. Mary Rosary Society.
Vera is survived by one brother, Donald Goedken; nieces and nephews, Andrea (Jason) Geer, Michael (Meagan) Goedken, Marisa (Michael) Arlt, Thomas (Becky) Goedken; and 9 grand nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Gregor and Marcella Goedken.
