Vera I. Cole, 79, of Manchester, died Saturday evening, August 23, 2003, at the Good Neighbor Home, Manchester, after a short illness.

A Funeral Mass will be at 11:30 am on Tuesday, August 26, 2003, at St. Mary?s Catholic Church, Manchester. Friends may call from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Monday, where there will be a 5:00 pm Scripture Service, at the Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Manchester. Friends may also call at the church for an hour before services on Tuesday. Burial will be in St. Mary?s Catholic Cemetery in Manchester.

Vera was born on July 19, 1924, in Raeville, Nebraska the daughter of Frank X. & Mary C. (Krogman) Klein. She attended school in Raeville before her family moved to Manchester in 1940. On March 8, 1943, Vera was united in marriage to Marvin J. Cole at St. Mary?s Catholic Church in Manchester by the Rev. John Smith. The couple farmed near Manchester and Oneida area later moving into Manchester in 1976. Marvin passed away on November 30, 1993. Vera continued to live in their home until moving to the Good Neighbor Home in April of 2002.

Vera was a member of St. Mary?s Catholic Church, Manchester, and a former member of St. Joseph?s Catholic Church in Greeley. She enjoyed playing cards, crocheting, and quilting. Vera loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Vera is survived by four sons and their wives, James & Carol Cole of Hopkinton, Jack & Clara Cole of Dyersville, Jerry & Barb Cole of Manchester, Joseph & Shirley Cole of Manchester; two daughters, Shirley Bears, and her husband, Gene, of Mesa, Arizona, and Patricia Stuckenschneider of Cedar Rapids; 25 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Helen Kuncl of Prague, Nebraska, and Hilda Koch of Richland Center, Wisconsin; and two brothers, Joe Klein and his wife, Viola, and Francis Klein, all of Manchester.
