Venita “Anne” Martin, 73, of Manchester died Monday, September 08, 2008 following a brief illness.
Funeral Services will be at 11:00 am, Thursday, September 11, 2008 at Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Manchester. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Wednesday and for one hour before service on Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery, Delhi, Iowa.
Anne was born October 30, 1934 in Anamosa, IA, the daughter of Raymond W. and Hope L. (Holdridge) Tibbitts. She graduated from Coggon High School in 1952. On February 4, 1954, Anne was united in marriage to Harold H. Martin in Carson City, Nevada. The couple lived on the west coast and overseas while Harold served in the U.S. Navy. The couple moved to Manchester in 1967 where Anne was a homemaker and drove school bus for eight years for the West Delaware Schools. Harold died on April 29, 2001. Anne was a loving mother who continued to care for her children up until her final illness.
Anne is survived by one son, Donald Martin of Manchester; a daughter-in-law, Jeanne Martin of Marion; five grandchildren, Angela, Josh & John Martin, and Daniel and Christina Guisti; three great-grandchildren, Madelyn Fox, and Lexi and Maya Christiani; and one brother, Lyle R. Tibbitts of Tacoma, Washington.
Anne was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond & Hope Tibbitts; her husband, Harold H. Martin; one son, David D. Martin, three daughters, Kathy Guisti, Julie M. Martin and Jill M. Martin; one great-granddaughter, Jennifer A. Guisti; and one sister-in-law, Betty Tibbitts.
