Velma M. Rosendahl, 80, a resident of Monticello Nursing and Rehab Center, formerly of Prairieburg, died in Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids, Friday, June 8, 2007, following a lingering illness. Services: 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 12, 2007, at the United Methodist Church in Central City, by Rev. Jonna Jensen. Burial: Prairieburg Boulder Cemetery in Prairieburg. The family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, June 11, 2007, at Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Central City.

Survivors include a daughter, Connie (Keith) Byers of Monticello; two sons, Ronald (Linda) Rosendahl of Willard, Missouri and Daniel (Cheryl) Rosendahl of Center Point; and a sister, Darlene Connor of Central City.

Also surviving are eight grandchildren, Matt (Greta) Byers, Ben (Debra) Byers, Elizabeth (Patrick) Morgan, Seth (Alyssa) Rosendahl, Richard (Tocia) Rosendahl, Corey (Katie) McAfee, Cami (Eric) Jennings and Ron Earl (Amy) Rosendahl; eight great-grandchildren; and four sisters-in-law, Marvel Schmidt, Doris Baumann, Joan Jossie and Luella Morse.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and two brothers, Ralph and John Morse.

Velma was born the daughter of Alfred “Tim” and Grace (Chapman) Morse on July 25, 1926, in Cedar Rapids. On July 24, 1943, was united in marriage to Richard E. Rosendahl. He died August 6, 1993. Velma worked as a cook for the Central City School system for over thirty years. She was a member of United Methodist Church in Central City.

Family, grandchildren and friends were very important to Velma. She enjoyed baking, gardening, playing cards, camping and watching the Hawkeyes and Cardinals.

A memorial fund has been established in Velma’s memory.
