Velma L. Ohrt, 91, of Center Point, Iowa, died Sunday, May 4, 2008, in her home following a sudden illness. Services: 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 10, 2008, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Center Point, by Pastor Dennis Sackett. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m., Friday, May 9, 2008, at the funeral home. Burial: Campton Cemetery, Lamont, Iowa.
Survivors include her children, Philip (Carole) Priest of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Timothy (Fay) Priest of Twisp, Washington, Verala (Joe) Booth of Riverside, Washington, and Ronald (Julie) Ohrt of Overland Park, Kansas; 13 grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; and a sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and Jim Walker of Vinton.
Velma was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; two sisters, Dorthea Will and Vera Pagel; and aunt, Lillian Specht.
Velma was born September 23, 1916, in Winthrop, Iowa, the daughter of William and Emma (Specht) Pagel. She married Howard Priest and then Harold Ohrt. They both preceded her in death. She worked for Collins Radio on the assembly line.
Some of Velma’s joys were quilting and word games. She was a neat people person who was caring, kind, loving and giving. She found joy in life through her strong faith.
