Velma May Holloway, 80, of Victor, Iowa, and formerly of Marion, died Saturday, December 22, 2007, at St. Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, following a long illness. Per Velma’s wishes, there will be no visitation or services. Inurnment will be in Racine, Wisconsin at a later date.

Arrangements are by Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion, Iowa.

Survivors include her children, Clarence (Shirley) Suprice of New Mexico, Lyle (Donna) Holloway of California, Peter Holloway or Oregon, Phillip (Kathy) Holloway of California, Lawrence Holloway of Marion, Michael Holloway of Oregon, Paul Holloway of Marion, Mary (James) Huff of Victor, Helen (Doug) Fowler of Wisconsin, Cecelia Holloway of Victor, and John Holloway of California; two sisters, Joyce Taylor of Tennessee, and Clarice Lindstroth of Nevada; 21 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John L. Holloway; her parents; her siblings, Buster, Verna, Nellie, Lydia, and Freda.

Velma was born May 22, 1927, the daughter of Clarence and Alwine (Hornecker) Gagnon, in Racine, Wisconsin. She worked as a C.N.A. for many years.

In lieu of flowers, memorials should be directed to St. Luke’s Hospice, 1026 A Avenue N.E., Cedar Rapids, Iowa, 52406-3026 in Velma’s memory.
