Velma I. Coleman, 84, a resident of Heritage Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Cedar Rapids, formerly of Anamosa, died Wednesday, November 12, 2003, at the care center, following a lingering illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 15, 2003, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion by Rev. Randy Bobzien. Friends may call from 4-6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial: Wilcox Cemetery in Viola.

Survivors include her brother, Don Coleman and wife Betty of Marion; two sisters-in-law, Cleta Coleman of Anamosa and Joyce Mitchell of Toddville; seven nieces; seven nephews; numerous great-nieces and nephews; and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Etta Ireland and Vada Worden; and two brothers, Lloyd and Earl.

Velma was born February 4, 1919, the daughter of Frank and Ella (Hotz) Coleman in Center Junction, Iowa. She lived in the Anamosa area most of her life. Velma was employed at Turner Microphone Co. and Rockwell Collins for thirty-two years before retiring in 1983. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Marion.
