Velda F. Meyen, 82, of Dundee went to eternal rest with the Lord at home, November 27, 2013.
Funeral Services will be at 2:00 p.m., Monday, December 2, 2013 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Dundee by Rev. Tim Miller. Family will greet friends from 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m., Sunday, December 1, 2013 at the Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Manchester. Burial will be in the Forestville Cemetery, rural Dundee.
Velda was born January 10, 1931 in rural Dundee, the daughter of Allan and Fern (Ryan) Hermance. On December 19, 1948, she was united in marriage to Eugene F. Meyen at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Dundee. They moved to a farm four miles southeast of Strawberry Point. In 1960, they moved to Dundee and operated the Village Market Grocery Store for Earl Schroeder and opened and ran the Forest Villa Resort located near Backbone State Park for 40 summers. In 2000, Eugene and Velda retired and sold Forest Villa Resort. They still continued their friendships with the tourists. Eugene and Velda were married for 60 years prior to Eugene’s death in 2008.
Velda was a lifetime member of the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Dundee.
Velda is survived by one son, Jody (Deborah) Meyen of Dundee; three grandchildren, Courtney, Elizabeth, and Brody Meyen.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established in Velda’s memory.
