Vanita T. Knipper, 90, a longtime resident of Delhi, Iowa, passed away Sunday, August 4, 2019 at the Good Neighbor Home, Manchester. Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m., Friday, August 9, 2019, at St. John Catholic Church in Delhi conducted by Rev. John R. Kremer. Visitation: 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, August 8, 2019, at St. John Catholic Church in Delhi with a Family Scripture Service at 1:30 p.m. Additional visitation one hour prior to the service Friday at the Church. Burial: St. John Cemetery, Delhi.
Vanita was born February 15, 1929 in New Vienna, Iowa the daughter of Gregory and Alvina (Boeckenstedt) Lammers. She married Ralph Knipper on April 22, 1947 in Petersburg. They were lifetime farmers, starting in Petersburg for 3 years, and moving to Delhi in 1952. They moved in town in 1984, but kept active with farming. She later moved to Manchester to be closer to family.
Vanita is survived by her children; Donald (Joann) Knipper, Joyce Edmonds, Colleen (Jim) Rausch, Randall (Michelle) Knipper, Joan (Mike) Wessels, and Bruce (Karen) Knipper; 19 grandchildren: Christopher (Teresa) Knipper, Kayleen (Andrew) Hardy, Mark (Carmen) Knipper, Terry (Jill) Knipper, Julie (Troy) Brown, Brian (Brenda) Edmonds, Scott (Stephanie) Edmonds, Kendra Downs, Amy (Tim) Lueck, Kevin (Jess) Rausch, Kyle (Jenna) Knipper, Kraig Knipper (Rylie Worm), Rachel Knipper (Jon Hansel), Ryan (Liz) Wessels, Angie (Kyle) Fagan, Nick (Melanie) Wessels, Katie (Kyle) Altier, Eric Knipper (Brooke Rozier), and Travis Knipper; 28 great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers, Abbie Mormann, Carol (Lester) Simons, Irvie (Eloise) Lammers and a sister-in-law; Karen Lammers.
Vanita was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Ralph; son-in -law, Ken Edmonds; a grandson, Chad Knipper; a great-grand daughter, Tayla Hardy; siblings, Donald Lammers, Mildred (Vernon) Helle, Alice (Lavern) Knipper, Art Moorman, Gladys (Purl) Lake, Vernie Lammers and a sister-in-law, Peg Digman.
