Valeta Burnetta Wilson, passed away peacefully in her home on Friday, December 21, 2012, at the age of 82. Funeral Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday at United Parish in Coggon. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Central City. Burial: Jordan’s Grove Cemetery in rural Central City.
She is survived by three children, Ellen (Steve) McElmeel of Cedar Rapids, Dixie DeSotel of Shellsburg, and James F. Wilson of Hiawatha; one granddaughter, Julie Jones; and one great-granddaughter, Taylor Crumes, both of Cedar Rapids.
Valeta was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and a sister, Cinthia.
She was born on May 3, 1930, to Frank and Wilma (Warner) Gintert of Shellsburg. On August 16, 1947, she was united in marriage to Kenneth James Wilson. During her life she worked as a store clerk, a legal secretary and a meat cutter.
Her free time was spent tracing family history, square dancing and motorcycle riding with Kenny, crocheting afgans, and sewing quilts.
