Tyler Jacob “T.J.” Threatt, 31, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away suddenly from complications of a seizure on Saturday, April 23, 2022, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids. Family will greet friends and family from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 28, 2022, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion, Iowa. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, April 29, 2022, at the Walker Bible Church in Walker, Iowa, conducted by Pastor Darwin Covington.
Tyler was born on August 12, 1990, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Edward Threatt, Jr. and Stephanie Howard. He was a 2008 graduate of Jefferson High School in Cedar Rapids. On August 19, 2017, Tyler was united in marriage to Annette Covington in Cedar Rapids. He spent his life working in sales and was currently working for MHC Kenworth in Cedar Rapids as a semi-truck salesman. Tyler loved all things; he loved all sports, the Oklahoma Sooners, and especially college football and wrestling. He was an amazing father and the rock of his family. Tyler enjoyed all things to do with his children, and spending time with Annette. He loved being a dance dad and was excited to help coach Adrian’s baseball team this year. Tyler will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Tyler is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife, Annette Threatt of Cedar Rapids; two children, Jaiden and Adrian Threatt of Cedar Rapids; mother, Stephanie (Styles) Howard of Cedar Rapids; father, Ed (Lori) Threatt, Jr. of Des Moines, Iowa; four siblings, Shay Hoffman of Cedar Rapids, Quinn (Tiffany) Hoffman of Cedar Rapids, Devin Threatt of Des Moines, and Brea Threatt of Des Moines; mother of his children, Ashlee Lucero of Cedar Rapids; grandfather, Ed (Wanda) Threatt, Sr. of Luther, Oklahoma; grandmother, Cathleen Robinson of Cedar Rapids; father and mother-in-law, Darwin and Deb Covington; brothers and sisters-in-law, Amy Dake (fiancé, John Jons) of Walker, Iowa, Ashley (Tim) Hamer of Cedar Rapids, Austin (Jodi) Covington of Center Point, Iowa, Adam (Paul) Covington of Cedar Rapids, Aaron (Sarah) Covington of Virginia Beach, Virginia; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins; and two special friends, who are more like brothers, Jake Feild and Tim Wallander.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Julie Threatt.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Tyler’s memory will be used to further his children’s education.
