Tristan Novak, 17, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died unexpectedly Thursday, September 23, 2021, after a long struggle with mental health. He is finally at peace. A eulogy ceremony will take place at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, September 29, 2021, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids. A celebration of life gathering will follow from 5 – 8 p.m. on Wednesday at The Legacy Center at Murdoch-Linwood. The family requests that guests feel free to come dressed as casually as they would like.
Tristan was born June 3, 2004, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Jebediah and Amy (Doyel) Novak. He was good at anything he tried; things came easy for Tristan. He was very athletic and enjoyed playing sports. Tristan liked hanging out, had a great sense of humor, and was very sarcastic. Tristan will be remembered as a generous young man with a beautiful smile. He had his moments of being wild, but then he’d always find a way to make you smile. Tristan was very loved.
Survivors include his parents, Jebediah and Amy Novak, and brother, Aidan Novak, all of Cedar Rapids; paternal grandparents, Jon and Susan Novak of Cedar Rapids; maternal grandparents, Gary and Marlene Doyel of Dakota City, Iowa; uncle, Ethan Novak of Coralville; uncle, Guy (Minda) Doyel of Magnolia; aunt, Tammy Doyel of Dakota Dunes, South Dakota; uncle, Chad (Wendy) Doyel of Pisgah, Iowa; as well as several cousins.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Tristan’s name may be directed to Foundation 2 Crisis Services.
