Tonya L. Hanson, 43, of 1400 2nd Avenue SE, Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, June 12, 2007, at home, following a lengthy illness. Services: 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 16, 2007, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Paul Scheidt. Family will greet friends from one hour prior to service Saturday at the funeral home. Private Burial: Linwood Cemetery, at a later date.
Survivors include her husband, Dean Hanson; her parents, Darwin “Del” and Freda Long; a sister, Debra (Steve) Derby-French, all of Cedar Rapids; two sisters-in-law, Diane Long of Cedar Rapids and Linda Hanson of Eagle Grove, Iowa; stepson-in-law, Andy Albert; stepgranddaughter, Amara Albert of Fenton, Iowa; and her nieces and nephews, Kendra Derby, William Derby, Daneen Gimson, Scott Long, Jr. and Michelle Long.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Scott Long; her grandparents, Albert and Helen Kingery and George and Hope Long; and an aunt, Norma Hollander.
Tonya was born September 17, 1963, the daughter of Darwin “Del” and Freda (Kingery) Long in Colorado Springs, Colorado. On August 17, 2001, she married Dean Hanson in Algona, Iowa. Tonya loved her cats, Zion and Pretty Boy and enjoyed collecting donkeys.
