Toni E. (Troutner) Lokenvitz, 57, of Cedar Rapids. We lost our beloved Toni to what she described as a “terrible, terrible disease (cancer). She fought hard for over three years enduring treatments that were just as “terrible” as the cancer itself, only to lose that battle on April 9, 2008. Toni has requested cremation with a visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, April 12, 2008, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Burial: 3:00 p.m. Saturday, April 19, 2008, Charles City Riverside Cemetery, Charles City, Iowa.
Toni is survived by Robert (Nick) Nicolaus, who stood by her side throughout her illness and was the love of her life of 22 years. Words cannot describe the appreciation our family has for the care that Nick gave Toni during this difficult time. A daughter, Elizabeth Bucknell, New Hampton, Iowa; a son, John Lokenvitz, Vinton, Iowa; and four grandchildren, Conor, Jayme, Kayla and Courtney.
Also surviving are her sisters, Ruby Brown, Wheatland, California, Fran Harvey, Sunnyvale, California, Jessie Lynn Sharp, Olympia, Washington, Myrtie Gilbert, Cedar Rapids, Terri (Kim) Troutner, New Hampton, and Marsha Dawn Troutner, Cedar Rapids; two brothers, Clyde Troutner, Escondido, California, and Roy (Sonny) Troutner; and many, many nieces and nephews.
Toni was born October 2, 1950, to Jess and Blanche Troutner in Charles City, Iowa. She was a graduate of Charles City Community Schools and married shortly after graduation. After divorcing, she relocated to the Iowa City/Cedar Rapids area where she met “Nick”. Toni worked at numerous restaurants/bars during her lifetime, but prior to her illness, she did daycare in her home where she loved her “babies”.
Toni had a heart as big as this world and would go out of her way to do anything for anyone that needed it, but would never consider inconveniencing anyone for herself. We will miss her laugh, her sense of humor, her kindness to everyone, but most of all, we will miss her!!!
A special thanks goes out to our sister, Myrtie, for all her support to Toni and Nick the past few months and to all the friends and family (too numerous to mention) during the most difficult time of our lives.
