Timothy Michael Matheny
August 28, 1955 — December 11, 2005
Timothy M. Matheny, 50, of 627 20th Avenue S.W., Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Sunday, December 11, 2005, in his home following complications of diabetes. Services: 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 14, 2005, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Gary Dobbins. The family will greet friends from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, December 13, 2005, at the funeral home. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his mother, Dorothy Matheny; wife, Shirley; children, Jessica Mifflin of Cedar Rapids, Kelli (Al) Seeman of Center Point, and Jeremy (Ginny) Whorton of Keystone; four grandchildren; two brothers, Virgil (Irene) Matheny of Rohnert Park, California and Scott (Marsha) Matheny of Hutchinson, Kansas; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Donald Matheny; and two brothers, Vernon D. Matheny and Robert A. Matheny.
Timothy was born August 28, 1955, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Donald and Dorothy (Coombs) Matheny. On June 14, 1986, in Cedar Rapids, he was united in marriage to Shirley Scherrer. He was an AV technician for the Cedar Rapids schools and previously did computer repair for the Cedar Rapids schools. Timothy was a member of the Sharon United Methodist Church in Cedar Rapids. He played bass in several bands and enjoyed computers, music, and movies. He also enjoyed teaching his grandchildren to use computers.
