Thomas "Tom" Telgenhoff Sr.
June 30, 1955 — September 1, 2015
Thomas “Tom” Telgenhoff, Sr., 60, of Marion, died peacefully in his home surrounded by love on Tuesday, September 1, 2015, after a courageous battle with lung cancer. The family will greet friends from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday, September 7, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion. Celebration of Life will be at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 8, at the funeral home, followed by a luncheon at the American Legion Post #298 in Marion. A private family burial will be held in Cadillac, Michigan in the spring.
Tom is survived by his soulmate of 37 years, Micki (Mead) Telgenhoff ; his four children, Tom Jr. (Mary Anne) Telgenhoff, Jen Telgenhoff, Kari (Josh) Yenter, and Bryan (Jamie) Telgenhoff; his mother, Barbara Telgenhoff; his seven grandchildren, Luke, Alexis, Ellie, Laney, Brayden, Sully, and Soren; his sister, Cherie (Alan) Mayner; his cousin, Marsha (Jim) Wilson; his two nieces, Brooke and Katie; his nephew, Kris; and his dear friend and Army buddy, Kurt Weinacht.
He was preceded in death by his father, George Telgenhoff; his sister, Cindi Johnston; his nephew, Matt Johnston; and his niece, Hilary McCue.
Tom was born on June 30, 1955 in Cadillac, Michigan, and graduated from Fenton High School in 1973. Shortly thereafter, he served as a medic in the United States Army for seven years where he met his future wife, Micki Mead. Tom and Micki married on December 8, 1978 at Ft. McClellan, Alabama. After the Army, Tom went to Mott Community College and the University of Michigan-Flint. He worked as a Programmer Analyst for 27 years.
Tom loved watching his children play sports so much, he became a coach for Marion boys baseball. He coached for over ten years always making sure that every child had the opportunity to play and learn the game. He had a passion for music, trivia, and a good crossword puzzle, always priding himself by doing them in pen.
A special thanks to Dr. Samuel Wood, all the nurses at the Hall-Perrine Cancer Center, the Staff of Hospice of Mercy, and all those who helped Tom through his difficult journey.

Tom will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. He was a gentle soul and was kindly referred to by his children as the “baby whisperer”.
