Tom Moore, 47, of Cedar Rapids, died Friday, July 18, 2014, at the University of Iowa Hospital. The family will greet friends from 10:00 a.m. -11:30 a.m. Saturday, July 26, 2014, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. A prayer service will begin at 11:30 am officiated by Father Paul Baldwin. A meal will be served following the service.
Survivors include his mother, Shirley Moore of Monticello; sisters, Joan Moore (Wayne Clements) of Forest, Virginia and Janie (Matt) Ricklefs of Hiawatha; brother, Terry (Brenda) Moore of Kaukauna, Wisconsin; his nieces and nephews, Chase, John, Isaac, Grace, Olivia and Eli; his friend, Wendie Medina and best friend, Fred Lynxwiler; and his “pup dog”, Nika.
He was preceded in death by his father, Richard; and his “pup dog”, Andi.
Tom was born January 3, 1967, the son of Richard and Shirley (Boeckenstedt) Moore, in Monticello, Iowa. He graduated from Monticello High School. Tom worked as a service technician for Hotsy Cleaning Systems since 2000.
Tom was a hands on person who enjoyed tinkering, woodworking, camping, boating and fishing. He loved music, playing his hand made guitars and was a huge Iowa Hawkeyes fan.
