Thomas L. Dabler, 35, of 6676 32nd Avenue, Shellsburg, died Wednesday, February 11, 2004, at home following a short illness. Services: 10:30 a.m., Saturday, February 14, 2004 at St. Jude?s Catholic Church by Rev. Phil Thompson. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m., Friday, February 13, 2004, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, with a scripture service at 7 p.m. Burial: St. Joseph Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his wife Cecilia Carey; his mother, Patricia Lou (Hanlon) Dabler; his father, Roger Dabler and wife, Shirley; his brothers, Roger Dabler and wife Mary of Cedar Rapids, and Stacey Dabler and wife Allison of Ft. Wright, Kentucky; a sister, Pat Hobson and husband Rick of Cedar Rapids; 3 nephews; five nieces; one great-nephew and a special cat who he named "Kitty?.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Thomas Lester and Florence Isabel Hanlon and Stacey Gray and Nellie Mae Dabler; and a niece, Samantha Hobson.
Tom was born March 7, 1968, the son of Roger Gray and Patricia Lou (Hanlon) Dabler, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He married Cecilia Ann Carey on July 26, 1997, in Bancroft, Iowa. Tom worked in restaurants as a cook for 20 years. He enjoyed cooking for his friends, spending time with his wife, fossil hunting, and growing herbs, houseplants and cacti. Tom was a member of the Camden Dart League. He will be greatly missed.
