Theodore R. Wienands, 85, of 901 Westwood Drive N.W., died Friday, Feb. 18, 2005, in Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Iowa City, following an extended illness. There will be no visitation or services. Arrangements by Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his wife Jean, two daughters, Sharon Myers and Debbie (Sam) Williams, both of Atlanta, Georgia; three step-sons, James (Kay) Russell of Baird, Jeff (Beth) Russell of Olympia, Washington and Joel (Jan) Russell of Ft. Meade, Maryland; and a sister, Marian Moorehouse of Texas.
Also surviving are a nephew, Rick (Joyce) Moorehouse of Cedar Rapids; an aunt, Rachel of California; and numerous grandchildren and step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Ted was born the son of Theodore John and Ruth Pearl (Carney) Wienands on September 2, 1919, in Cedar Rapids. On July 25, 1987, in Tacoma, Washington, he was united in marriage to Jean E. Russell. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was employed at Cargill for many years. Ted was a member El Kahir Shrine, El Kahir Foot Patrol, Crescent Masonic Lodge #25, Amvets, and Cedar Rapids Scottish Rite Consistory.
Ted enjoyed hunting and fishing.
