Theodore “Ted” C. Dalamaggas, 81, of Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, January 7, 2012, at St. Luke’s Hospital. Services: 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 11, 2012, at St. John The Baptist Greek Orthodox Church, Cedar Rapids, by Father Ciprian Sas. Family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, January 10 at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, where a Trisagsion service will begin at 7 p.m.. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Mary; his children, Peter (Shelley) Dalamaggas of Urbandale, Iowa, and Chris Dalamaggas of Chandler, Arizona; two grandchildren, Arianna and Nicholas Dalamaggas; sister, Helen Dalamaggas of Cedar Rapids; and two sisters-in-law, Cleo Dalamaggas of Moline, Illinois, and Helen Demetropoulos of Chicago, Illinois.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Peter Dalamaggas.
Ted was born November 2, 1930, the son of Chris and Antonia Dalamaggas, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. A graduate from Franklin High School in 1949, he attended Coe College and served in the United States Army from 1951-1953. On October 10, 1965, Ted was united in marriage to Mary Demetropoulos in Chicago. He worked at K-Mart until his retirement. Ted was a member of the St. John The Baptist Greek Orthodox Church, where he served as past President, Secretary and Treasurer. He also was a member of the Mt. Hermon Masonic Lodge, El Kahir Shrine, Cedar Rapids Consistory, Cedar Rapids Scottish Rite Temple, Amvets and American Legion. Ted enjoyed searching genealogy, working crossword puzzles and most important volunteering for the church.
