Theodore "Ted? Jacobson, 71, of 447 South 11th Street, Marion, died Friday, March 14, 2003, in St. Luke?s Hospital, in the Lord?s hands, following a long illness. Services: 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 18, 2003, at Grace Baptist Church in Marion by the Rev. Cecil Ballard. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Grace Baptist Church. Burial: Oak Shade Cemetery in Marion. Arrangements by Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Marion.
Surviving is his wife of thirty-two years, Nancy; five daughters, Rita Felker of Center Point, Susan Hilsenbeck of Omaha, Nebraska, Katherine "Diane? Gogel of Cedar Rapids, Barbara Brown of Marion and Brenda Collingwood of Fairfax; five sons, Joe Jacobson, Terry Jacobson and Donald Jacobson, all of Cedar Rapids, Michael Shuttleworth of Marion and Edward Shuttleworth of Davenport; two brothers, Lester Jacobson of West Union and Ronald Jacobson of Nevada; and a sister, Yvonne Griffin of Watertown, Wisconsin.
Also surviving are seventeen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Donna Miller and a son, Robert "Bobbie? Jacobson.
Ted was born the son of Herman and Virgie Johnson Jacobson on July 13, 1931, in rural West Union, Iowa. On October 16, 1970, in Cedar Rapids, he was united in marriage to Nancy Jean Hildenbrand. Ted was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Marion for over twenty years and was an active member of the bus ministry. He worked for Colonial Bakery in Cedar Rapids for many years. He and his wife, Nancy, owned and operated Like Nu Upholstery in Marion for forty-five years.
