Thelma J. Castle, 72, of 807 F Avenue NW, formerly of Wichita, Kansas and Cheyenne, Wyoming, died Thursday, April 10, 2003, in ManorCare Health Services, Cedar Rapids, following a courageous battle with cancer. A Celebration of Life will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, April 27, 2003, at the home of her daughter, at 807 F Avenue NW, Cedar Rapids. Inurnment: Olivett Cemetery, Cheyenne, Wyoming. Arrangements are with Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her children, Donald (Carolyn) Castle of Richmond, Kentucky, Dan (Janet) Castle of Elberon, Iowa, and Darla (Russell) Johnson of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; seven grandchildren, Stephanie, Brian, Jeanann, Robert, Brandon, Dakota and Jacob; and two brothers, Gordon Nicholson, Jr. of New Jersey, and Claude "Pete? Nicholson of Wichita, Kansas.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lloyd; and two brothers, Merle and Lewis.
Thelma was born July 7, 1930, the daughter of Gordon and Agnes (McCoy) Nicholson, in Wichita, Kansas. On February 10, 1947, she was united in marriage to Lloyd Castle. He died in February of 1986. Thelma was a loving homemaker, mother and grandmother and will be dearly missed.
