Teresa D. Tegler, 88, a resident of the Good Neighbor Home, Manchester, died November 24, 2008, of complications of pneumonia.
Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 29, 2008 at the Immaculate Conception Church in Masonville. Her family will greet relatives and friends from 3:00 - 7:00 p.m. Friday, November 28 and after 9:00 a.m. Saturday at the Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Manchester. Burial will be in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Masonville. A Catholic Daughters Rosary will be at 10:00 am on Saturday at the church.
Teresa was born June 2, 1920 in Worthington, Iowa, the daughter of Frank A. and Agatha S. (Kluesner) Ruden. She received her education at the Holy Cross Catholic School in Luxemburg, before moving in 1933 with her family to a farm in the Masonville area. On June 10, 1941, Teresa was united in marriage to Richard H. Tegler at the Immaculate Conception Parish in Masonville. The couple farmed south of Lamont for 56 years until retiring and moved to Manchester in 1997.
Teresa was a member the Immaculate Conception Church in Masonville for 65 years, a member of the Catholic Daughters of America, Altar and Rosary Society, the church choir, and taught religious education. Teresa was a home-maker and naturalist making use of everything the earth had to offer. Her hobbies included gardening and growing flowers. She was devoted to her husband, children, grandchildren and great-granddaughter.
Teresa is survived by five children, Diana (John) Beck of Plano, TX, Ronald (Kathy) Tegler of Buffalo Grove, IL, Gary (Leta) Tegler of Ballwin, MO, Pam (Pat) Geraghty of Cedar Rapids, and Cindy Tegler (friend, Robert Mackey) of Oswego, IL; one brother, Lawrence (Jolene) Ruden of Cedar Rapids; two sisters, Rosemary Doyle of Manchester and Madonna (Miles) Leonard of Manchester; ten grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and one great-great granddaughter.
Teresa was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Agatha Ruden; her husband, Richard Tegler in 2001; and two sisters, Mariella Ruden and Agatha Duschen.
A memorial fund has been established in Teresa’s name.
