Sylvia Elaine Shramek, 81, of Cedar Rapids, died Friday, January 16, 2009, at St. Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids. Services: 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 19, 2009, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion, by Father Rod Allers. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Survivors include her children, Mary Morgan of Overland Park, Kansas, Sandra Bampus of Dubuque, Pamela (Ira) Waggoner of Silvis, Illinois, Kathryn Schaal of Putosi, Wisconsin, Jeffery Krepfle of Cedar Rapids, James Krepfle of Anamosa, and Jay Krepfle of Dubuque; 8 grandchildren, Phillip Porte, Jr., Ali Parlier, Russell Morgan, Jr., Angel Buxton, Ann Krepfle, Margarett Krepfle, Sarah Krepfle, and Elija Krepfle; 2 step-grandsons, Tommy Waggoner and Kyle Waggoner; 13 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her 2 husbands; and a step-grandchild, Wendy Waggoner.
Sylvia was born March 6, 1927, one of 10 children, the daughter of Arnold and Mary (May) Kittle in East St. Louis, Illinois. She married Philip Krepfle and they had 7 children together. She later married Leonard Shramek. Sylvia was a member of the Elk’s Club and the VFW. She enjoyed crocheting, word finds, music, watching old movies and playing the organ and accordion.
