Sylvia Lou Foreman, 89, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away at home, Tuesday, March 21, 2017. Services: 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 27, 2017, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Visitation: 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. Sunday, March 26, 2017, Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Sylvia is survived by her children, Kay Petersen of Shellsburg, Iowa, Richard Foreman (Terri Bemman) of Whitewater, Wisconsin, Jean Eby of Cedar Rapids, Marie (Guy) Sullivan of Cedar Rapids, Clayton (Deb) Foreman of Toddville, Iowa, Bill (Val) Foreman of Hiawatha, Iowa; 34 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard; parents, Clyde and Edith Orebaugh; two grandsons; one granddaughter; one great-grandson; and son-in-law, Peter Petersen.
Sylvia was born September 18, 1927, in Dodge City, Kansas, the daughter of Clyde and Edith Orebaugh. On April 23, 1947, she married Richard A. Foreman in Pueblo, Colorado. She was the banquet manager at Townhouse Motor Inn as well as a waitress at Bishop’s Buffet. Richard and Sylvia also ran the Snack Bar at Sertoma Bingo. Sylvia loved to play cards and she looked forward to her trips to the casino. She also enjoyed the outdoors and spent her quiet time watching birds and wildlife. Sylvia liked to go out for dinner with friends and family as well. Her greatest joy was watching her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow.
