Susann Louise Bartz (Mcneese)

Susann Louise Bartz, 85, of Elberon, Iowa, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 16, 2013, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids. Private family services will be held at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Private burial: New Hampton Cemetery.
Survivors include her husband of 71 years, Harold; children, Vincent Bartz of San Francisco, California, Loretta (Darrell) Rankin of Erie, Colorado, Barclay (Stacey) Bartz of Cedar Falls, Iowa, Brenda (Tom) Miller of Luzerne, Iowa, Brent (Mary Kay) Bartz of Cedar Rapids and Brian (Michelle) Bartz of Cedar Rapids; brother, Spencer Webb McNeese; fifteen grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Susann was preceded in death by son who died in infancy, Stephen; parents; and two sisters, Mildred Lares and Harriet Jean Harness.
Susann was born on March 20, 1928, in Sherman, Missouri, the daughter of Albert and Lula (Becker) McNeese. On September 4, 1942, she was united in marriage to Harold V. Bartz in Waynesville, Missouri. Susann was a member of the Church of God (Faith of Abraham) in Belle Plaine.
Susann loved to dance, spend time gardening and working with her flowers, writing stories for her grandchildren as a “budding” novelist and entertaining family and friends, especially with her famous Halloween parties. Susann lived as a loving and caring wife and nurturing mother. Her legacy in marriage and life will be carried on through her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
