Susan Jane Marti (Moss)
November 29, 1939 — November 8, 2008
Susan J. Marti, 68, of 2417 C Street S.W., Cedar Rapids, Iowa, took her final journey after a two month battle with cancer Saturday, November 8, 2008, in Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha. Services: 2:00 p.m., Thursday, November 13, 2008, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Timothy Carter. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, November 12, 2008, at the funeral home. Burial: Linwood Cemetery.
Survivors include her husband, Delton; daughters, Denise Marti-Wyatt and husband Tom and Lisa Marti both of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Misty, Joshua, Nathan, Danny and Miles; great grandchildren, Tyler, Malachi, Gage and Nataliea; one great grandchild on the way, she nick named, Sunday Rose; brother, Dennis (Judy) Moss of Iowa City; mother-in-law, Sylvia Marti of Marion; and sister-in-law, Beulah Moss of Cedar Rapids.
Susan was preceded in death by her parents; son, Danny Paul Marti in 1963, brother, Gerald Moss; and her beloved dog Rubin Dean Marti.
Susan was born November 29, 1939, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Harold and Ruth (Schultz) Moss. She graduated from Wilson High School. On November 25, 1961, in Galena, Illinois, she was united in marriage to Delton Marti. For 33 years she was employed by Rockwell Collins.
Susan was very involved in her community. She was vice president of the Parent Together Network that helped pass the law on harboring runaways. She was also active in keeping the community free of drugs. She was a member and president of SWAN (Southwest Area Neighbors), was a union steward of IBEW for many years and was involved with CRCOPPS. Susan was always helping someone. She enjoyed traveling, crocheting and watching the Chicago Cubs. Susan was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend and will be missed by all.
