Stuart Hull Powers
October 22, 1973 — July 7, 2009
Stuart Powers, 35, passed away on July 7, 2009, in Chicago, Illinois, following a brief illness. Memorial Service: 3:00 p.m., Sunday, July 12, 2009, at First Presbyterian Church, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Thomas E.S. “Ted” Miller. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service on Sunday at the church. Arrangements by Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.
Stuart is survived by his parents, James and Patty Powers of Cedar Rapids; his sister and brother-in-law, Kristin and Ted Waldon of Seattle; his grandfather, William Hull of Cedar Rapids; uncles and aunts, Richard and Ellen Hull of Cedar Rapids, John Hull of Houston, and Garth and Susie Powers of Marion; and cousins, Aaron Hull of Cedar Rapids, Amy Karr and husband Kris of Robins, Kari Powers of Omaha and Heidi Powers of Omaha.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Mary Hull; and his paternal grandparents, John and Ethel Powers.
Stuart was born on October 22, 1973. He graduated from Washington High School, received an AA degree from Mount Marty College and attended the University of Iowa. He then became a freight broker until the time of his death.
Stuart loved all outdoor activities. He particularly enjoyed many family fishing trips to Birch Point Camp on Nungessor Lake in Ontario, Canada. He also enjoyed activities at the family farm and Lake Delhi.
