Steve Smith, 67, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away Saturday, April 30, 2016, at the Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha. Service: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 3, 2016, at the New Disciples Church, 621 Edgewood Road NW, Cedar Rapids, conducted by Rev. Stasia Fine. Visitation: 9:30-10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 3, 2016, at the church. Arrangements made by Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.
He is survived by his wife of 16 years, Debbie Smith of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; children, Matthew (Kendra) Smith of Kansas City, Missouri, Dawn Smith of Kansas City, Kevin (Holly) Smith of Kansas City; grandchildren, Kaitlyn Seghal, Brianna Smith, Jackie Bovard, Alex Smith, Josephine Smith and Andrew Smith; great-grandchild, Thea Rae Bovard; brothers, Lee Smith, Jr. of Iowa City, Iowa and David (Tracy) Smith of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Shirley.
Steve was born on October 27, 1948, in Cedar Rapids, son of Lee and Clair (Tufts) Smith. He married Debbie Bergsmith on July 17, 1999, at the Cedar Christian Church, in Cedar Rapids. Steve was a salesman for many years. He enjoyed Bazooka Bubblegum, Christmas, the Iowa Hawkeyes, raising Siberian Huskies. Steve also enjoyed talking on the phone and was a great conversationalist.
Steve will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him.
