Steven D. Nordstrom, 56, of 5614 Antler Dr., Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, February 7, 2008, at St. Luke’s Hospital, following a long illness. Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 11, 2008, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids by the Rev. Del Bear. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial: Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his wife, Christine “Chrissy” Nordstrom of Cedar Rapids; a son, Bret Ranard and wife Eve of Cedar Rapids; a daughter, Nicole Dietze and husband Shaun of Norway; his mother, Louise Nordstrom of Cedar Rapids; four grandchildren, Jacob, Nicholas, Tyler, and Brandon; two sisters, Sally Nordstrom and husband Kent Cooling of Cedar Rapids, and their children, Chelsea and Chase, and Susan Nordstrom Lopez and husband Dr. Osvaldo Lopez of Chicago, and their children, Alexandra, Elizabeth and Marcos. Also surviving are his brothers-in-law, Dave Olson and his children, David, Courtney, Rob and Stacy, Robert Michael Willits and wife Stephanie, and their children Justin and Joshua, and Scott Newland and wife Trish; and his father-in-law, Rod Newland;
He was preceded in death by his father, George; grandson, Thomas; mother-in-law, Betty Newland; and sister-in-law, Gayle Olson.
Steven was born April 1, 1951, the son of George and Louise (Pratt) Nordstrom in Cedar Rapids. He married Christine Ranard on July 31, 2004. He worked at BICS over 20 years as a technical systems analyst. He then worked at AEGON for several years and left to become a personal investor. Steve’s true passion was working at BICS, where he met lifelong friends and his wife.
He loved music, NASCAR, spending time with his grandsons, working in the yard, and was an avid Hawkeye fan. Family and friends will miss his unique humor.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Steven’s memory.
