Steven "Carter? Michael Carter, 53, of 420 B Avenue NW, Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, October 10, 2006, in his home, following a short illness. Services: 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 16, 2006, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Bill Harnish.
Survivors include his sons, Larry Carter of Cherokee, Dean (Molly) Carter of Sioux City and Gene Carter of Alburnett; two grandchildren, Kimberly and Grace Marie; five brothers, Marty Carter of Iowa City and Lynn Carter of Alburnett, Terry Carter, of Omaha., Tim Carter of Kansas City, Tony Carter of Germany; and a sister, Tammy Ellis of Roseville, California.
Also surviving a very special friend to whom he considered his second mom, Marge, owner of his second home "E Avenue Tap?; by countless friends, as close to him as family and "Fred?.
Carter was born September 24, 1953, the son of Carvel Christenson and Bonnie Anderson, in Storm Lake, Iowa. He was raised by his mother, Bonnie and his dad, Mel Carter. He served with the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. For 23 years. Carter worked at Goss Graphics in Cedar Rapids. He collected and distributed stuffed animals for children on every holiday for the past 15 years. Carter rode for Toys for Tots with ABATE and rode the Poker Run for MDA.
He was a member of the ABATE District #5, Hog Chapter and the Machinist Union. Carter loved to ride his Harley. At an early age, he rode his first ride to Sturgis and rode every year until 1994. For 25 years, he rode with a brother/sister pack. Whenever life got tough, he would just jump on his bike and ride. Carter lived to ride and he rode to live. A man with a wonderful sense of humor, Carter will be deeply missed by all.
