Stella Effie Taylor, 88, of Central City, died Friday, September 2, 2005, in Mercy
Medical Center, Cedar Rapids, after a long illness. Graveside Services: 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, September 7, 2005, at Spring Grove Cemetery in rural Coggon, by the Rev. Del Bear. Visitation will be Tuesday, September 6, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Central City.
Surviving are her children, Zelda (Bill) Huster of Caulfield, Missouri, Edith (Ken) Werling of Anamosa, Raymond (Clara) Taylor of Central City and Jessie Brown of Olin.
Also surviving are eleven grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Stella was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Andrew; a daughter, Violet; two brothers, Nelson and Samuel; a half-brother, Barney; and a half-sister, Ethel.
Stella was born the daughter of Samuel and Myrtle (Justin) Mentzer on February 12, 1917, in Spring Grove Township. She was united in marriage to Andrew Guy Taylor on January 27, 1936, in Cedar Raids. Andrew passed away on October 4, 1972.
Stella had a huge circle of friends that ranged far and wide. She was an avid reader, enjoyed playing cards and Yatzee.
