Stella M. Beiber (Thiemann)
March 25, 1917 — November 23, 2008
Stella M. Beiber, 91, a resident of Northbrook Manor Care Center in Cedar Rapids, formerly of Marion, died Sunday, November 23, 2008, at the care center following a brief illness. Service of Remembrance: 1:30 p.m. Saturday, November 29, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion by Rev. Julie Anderson Schuett. Per Stella’s wishes, there will be no visitation. The family will greet friends from 1:00 p.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home. Private family burial will take prior to the service at Oak Shade Cemetery in Marion.
Survivors include nieces and nephews, Jerry (Doris) Murray of LeClaire, Janet Murray Blasingame of Cedar Rapids, Thomas (Kathy) Murray of Iowa City, and Mary Jo (Brian) Hamrick of Springville; and a brother-in-law, Chet Renner of Clear Lake.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Earle; her parents; and her sister, Elsie (Murray) Renner.
Stella was born March 25, 1917, the daughter of George and Erma (Born) Thiemann on a farmstead in Klemme. She attended country schools in Ell Township. On October 12, 1947, she married B. Earle Beiber in Iowa City. He died March 29, 1965. Stella owned and operated The Charm Beauty Shop for forty-seven years, retiring in 1992.
Stella was a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church in Marion where she had been a deacon, a fifty year member of the Eastern Star, and a past member of the American Business Woman’s Association. She volunteered at The Helping Hand Store in Marion.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to First Presbyterian Church in Marion in Stella’s memory.
