Stanley Eugene Plower, 68, of Anamosa, formerly of Waubeek died Friday, September 26, 2003, in Regional Medical Center in Manchester, following a courageous battle with cancer. Services:1:00 p.m. Monday, September 29, 2003, at Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Central City, by the Rev. Jonna Jensen. Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial: Mount Clark Cemetery in Central City.

Survivors include his wife, Connie; three children, Sherry (Ed) Betzer of Central City, Sheila Plower of Prairieburg and Steve "Mooch? Plower of Cedar Rapids; three step-children, Leslie (Bobbie) Ayres of Woodlands, Texas, Valerie Mardorf of Houston, Texas and Jason Mardorf of Ames.

Also surviving are three grandchildren, Jessica Thorson, Bryce Plower and Brady Van Amburg. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Raymond, Marvin and Don "Dobe? Plower and a sister, Betty Truesdell.

Stan was born the son of Joseph and Mae Zerbe Plower on September 21, 1935, in rural Prairieburg. He graduated from Viola High School and then served in the U.S. Army. On September 4, 1964, in Anamosa, he was married to Sandra Mohr. They had three children together and later divorced. He then was married to Connie Mardorf on October 10, 1996, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Stan was employed at Goss Graphics for 36 years, retiring in 2001, and was a former member of Machinists Union Local 831 of Cedar Rapids.

Stan loved NASCAR, Jeff Gordon and country music. He enjoyed watching sports of all kinds, and collecting antiques.

Stan lived for spending time with family and friends, especially his grandchildren. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
