Stanley F. Holub, 89, of Coggon, died Saturday, November 14, 2009, at home. Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, November 18, 2009, at St. John’s Catholic Church, Coggon, by Father Wayne Droessler. The family will greet friends 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, November 17, 2009, at Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Central City, with a scripture service beginning at 7:00p.m. Burial: St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Prairieburg.

Survivors include his wife, Pat; his children, Wayne (Paula) Holub of Coggon, Patty (Grant) Wilken of Marion, Suzanne (Jim) Tresnak of Cedar Rapids, Maynard (Diane) Holub of Cedar Rapids, Carmen (Kevin) Casey of Martelle, Tammy (Mike) Hansen of Olin, and Ben (Marge) Holub of Prairieburg. Also surviving are 26 grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, LaVern; his son, Carl Holub; and his brother, Arthur (Louise) Holub.

Stanley was born November 13, 1920, in Prairieburg, the son of Frank B. and Helen (Houser) Holub. He married LaVern Schockemoehl on November 22, 1945, in Worthington, Iowa. LaVern died October 11, 1974. Stanley married Pat Covington on May 26, 1979 in Central City. He was a lifelong farmer in the Prairieburg area, and worked at Prairiemoon Ballroom for 18 years. Stanley was on the Board of Directors for Prairieburg Telephone Company for 52 years, and was an insurance agent and on the Board of Directors for Bohemian Farmers Mutual for 50 years. He was also on the Alburnett Farm Services Board of Directors. Stanley was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus, a trustee for St. Joseph’s Catholic Church of Prairieburg, and a member of the Central City Co-op Board.

The family would like to thank Hospice of Mercy, Dr. Marc Wilkinson, and Dr. Ersin Atay for all their care of Stanley.
