Stanley John Drahos, 86, of Bertram, passed away Friday, April 26, 2013, at St. Luke’s Hospital following a short illness. Funeral Mass: 10:00 a.m. Thursday, May 2, 2013, at St. Wenceslaus Church, Cedar Rapids by Father Christopher Podhajsky. The family will greet friends from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 1, 2013, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion. Burial: Campbell Cemetery, Bertram. Following the burial, a celebration of life will be held at the Moose Lodge, 1820 West Post Road SW, Cedar Rapids.

Stanley was born October 12, 1926, in Cedar Rapids to Frank and Amelia Drahos. He married Irma Lnenicka on April 6, 1948 in Cedar Rapids. He worked at “The Packing House” (Wilson Foods) for 17 years and retired from Collins Radio in 1983 after working there 24 years. He was a lifelong member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church and mayor of Bertram from 1973 to 1979.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Irma; a son Don (Ann) Drahos, Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Damon (Elizabeth) Drahos, Schaumburg, IL, and Megan Drahos (fiancé Johnathan Hoffman), Hoboken, NJ; and great-granddaughter Brooklyn Camille Drahos, Schaumburg, IL. He is also survived by a brother John Drahos; and a sister Alice Mosby.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Frank Drahos and Wesley Drahos; sisters Julia Lawrence and Molly Mach; and half-brothers Ed Pospisil and Gus Pospisil.

Stan was good at fixing almost anything, and liked doing things just right. He was an avid Cubs and Hawkeye fan. Stan enjoyed hunting and trout fishing, camping with friends, dancing and the pleasure of the company of his family and many friends.
