Stan R. Menken, 64, of Central City, formerly of Marion, died Tuesday, July 17, 2007, at his home following a courageous battle with cancer. Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 20, 2007, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion, by the Rev. Del Bear. Visitation will be from 4 ?" 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be at a later date.

Survivors include his wife, Linda; two daughters, Jody (Craig) Moyer of Anamosa and Keri Osborn of Central City; two sisters, Marjorie Siebenga of Parkersburg and Marlys (Richard) Woodruff of Wilmington, Delaware; a brother, Merlin (Carol) Menken of Dike, Iowa; and six grandchildren, Casey, Alyssa, Korbin, Wyatt, Jordan and Peyton.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers-in-law, Joseph Siebenga and Steve and Danny Keppler.

Stan was born March 6, 1943, in Hampton, Iowa, the son of Herman and Jennie (Schriever) Menken. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. On September 26, 1964, he was united in marriage to Linda Keppler in Marion, Iowa. Stan was employed at Kings Concrete as a truck driver and later at Rathje Construction Company, retiring in 2005.

Stan was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He touched many lives in many different ways and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

A memorial fund has been established in memory of Stan.
