“Sonny” H.C. Haren, 56, of Delhi, Iowa passed away at his home on his porch, Sunday, June 5, 2011.
Funeral Services: 11:00 a.m., Thursday, June 9, 2011 at Delhi United Methodist Church by Revs. Lorraine and Ken Hartman. Visitation: 2 - 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at the Delhi United Methodist Church and visitation one hour before services on Thursday. Honors: Provided by Delhi Volunteer Fire Department and Delaware County Fire Fighter Honor Guard.
Sonny was born February 19, 1955 in Manchester, the son of Henry K and Jeannette (Pulver) Haren. He was first married to Diane Gourley on September 25, 1976. They were blessed with one daughter, Carrie Marie. Sonny later married Denise Rieger on May 23, 2009. Sonny first worked for Randy’s Sanitation and then Allied Waste for the last 23 years.
Sonny was a member of the Delhi Volunteer Fire Department for 21 years; a former Lion’s Club Member, Sperfslage Farms Manager, and was an avid outdoorsman. Sonny never wasted a day in his life and lived it “his way”.
Sonny is survived by his wife, Denise Haren of Delhi; a daughter, Carrie Marie (Brian) Sternstein; one grandson, Tyler; his mother, Jeannette (Jim) Tharp; his father, Henry K (Mary Ann) Haren; siblings, Debi (Wayne) Burbridge, Lynnette (Mark) Schnittjer, Tim Haren, and Scott (Lisa Sibel) Haren and many nieces and nephews.
Sonny was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Henry C. and Emma Haren and maternal grandparents, Jack and Effie Pulver.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established at the Heritage Bank in Delhi.
