Shirley M. Watkins (Branscomb)

Shirley M. Watkins, 75, of 1065 S. 15th St., Marion, died Monday, September 8, 2008, at St. Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids, following a long illness. Services: 1:00 p.m. Friday, September 12, 2008, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion, by Rev. Del Bear. The family will greet friends from 11:00 a.m. ?" 1:00 p.m., Friday at the funeral home. Burial: Oak Shade Cemetery, Marion, Iowa.
Survivors include her husband, Ralph of Marion; her children, Randy of Cedar Rapids, Ann (Rick) Johnson of Marion, James of Marion, and Lisa (Greg) Hanson of Cedar Rapids; her siblings, Bill Branscomb of Oklahoma, Dan (Linda) Branscomb of Vinton, Rita (Chuck) Dannen of Rhodes, and Elaine Branscomb of Iowa; eleven grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Robert; and a sister, Patty Maxwell.
Shirley was born January 3, 1933, the daughter of Edgar and Cora (Parcel) Branscomb, in Centerville, Iowa. On October 28, 1950, she married Ralph Watkins in Indianola.
Shirley was previously employed at Crestview Acres Nursing Home and Willow Gardens Care Center as a nurse’s aide. Shirley enjoyed traveling; she and Ralph made many trips out west camping.
A memorial fund has been established in Shirley’s memory.
