Shirley J. Wallace, 76, 825 Edward Court S.E., Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Tuesday, August 07, 2007, in Heritage Nursing & Rehab Center, Cedar Rapids, following a long illness. Memorial Service: 1:00 p.m. Saturday, August 11, 2007, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion, by the Rev. Mike Morgan.
Survivors include her daughter, Sheryl Wallace of Cedar Rapids; three sons, Dr. Terry Wallace of Pensacola, Florida, Brent Wallace of Cedar Rapids and Dale (Debra) Wallace of Hiawatha; three grandchildren, Angela, Glenn and Brandy; nine great grandchildren; a sister, Marilyn Johnson of Marion; brother, Gene Balcom of Marion and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her dog, Jacque.
Shirley was born December 12, 1930, in Caledonia, Illinois, the daughter of Charles and Jennie Tine Johanna (Kvarme) Balcom. She graduated from Marion High School in 1948. On June 19, 1954, she married Glenn Wallace in Marion. They later divorced. She worked in the office at Killians and Collins Radio and at various other businesses. Shirley was a people person and enjoyed working with others.
She was an avid reader, enjoyed playing bridge and traveling to Wisconsin. When she was physically able, she was an active member of First United Methodist Church in Marion.
Shirley was blessed with a loving family and many dear friends. She will be missed but will remain in our hearts always.
