Shirley Mae Ransier (Baughman)
August 4, 1937 — July 23, 2007
Shirley M. (Brainard) Ransier, 69, of 1294 Huron Drive, Marion, died Monday, July 23, 2007 at St. Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids, following a short illness. Services: 10:00 a.m., Friday, July 27, 2007, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion by Rev. Scott Owen. Visitation will be from 4 ?" 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids, at a later date.
Survivors include her husband, Harold, of Marion; one son, Steven Ransier and fianceé Pauline Nardinger of Zumbrota, Minnesota; her mother, Velda Brainard of North English; one brother, David Brainard of Marion; one sister, Nancy (Gary) Edwards of Jefferson City, Missouri; and two grandchildren, Chris Ransier and fianceé Lisa, of Norfolk, Virginia, and Tina Ransier of Zumbrota, Minnesota. Also surviving are many other loving family members.
She was preceded in death by her father and one brother, Charlie.
Shirley was born August 4, 1937, the daughter of Alfred and Velda (Baughman) Brainard in Delta. She graduated from North English High School in 1955 and Hamilton Business College in 1957. On December 7, 1958, she married Harold Ransier, in North English. She was a homemaker and attended Blair Ridge Baptist Church.
Shirley enjoyed square dancing, traveling, camping, and her cats; and was an avid card player.
A memorial fund has been established in Shirley’s name.
