Shirley A. Phillips, 69, of 902 7th Street S.W., Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Friday, January 30, 2009, in her home following a long illness. Per her request there will be no services. Arrangements by Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her mother, Margaret “Bubbe” of Cedar Rapids; five children, Diana (Marlowe) Buller of Wisconsin, Gary Phillips of Nevada, Jamie Looney of Mechanicsville, Lori (Mark) Vislisel of Mt. Vernon and Tina (Wayne) Stephens of Colorado; ten grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; brother, William (Judy) Phillips, Jr. of Arizona; sister, Cindy Miller of Ohio; sister-in-law, Connie Phillips of Cedar Rapids; and many nieces and nephews.
Shirley was preceded in death by her father; and brother, Bruce Phillips.
Born September 14, 1939, in Cedar Rapids, Shirley was the daughter of William and Margaret “Bubbe” (Stolba) Phillips. She was a custom embroiderer and tended bar at the American Legion.
Her passions were sewing, embroidering, and designing quilts. She took great pride in her baking, gardening and her flower garden.
