Shirley Marie Martinson, 88, of Alburnett, Iowa, formerly of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away Monday, September 11, 2017, at Mercy Hallmar, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Service: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, September 16, 2017, at St. John Lutheran Church, Center Point, Iowa, conducted by Pastor David L. Hansen. Family will greet friends from 9:00 – 10:30 a.m. Saturday, at the church. Burial: Mt. Clark Cemetery, Central City, Iowa. Arrangements made by Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Center Point.
Survivors include her husband, Edwin; children, Terry (Judie) Martinson of Cedar Rapids and Gayle (Curt) Zingula of Central City; grandchildren, Jesse Martinson and Tracie Martinson of Cedar Rapids, Brad (Shannon) Zingula of Rochester, Minnesota, Elizabeth Zingula (Shawn Beilby) of Manchester, Iowa, Brian Zingula (Rama Isaac) of Hamilton, Ontario, Canada and Jennifer Zingula (Dan Saladin) of Ames, Iowa; and great-grandchildren, Lucas, Natalie, Katelyn and Megan Beilby,
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Richard “Dick” Alderman.
Shirley was born on May 26, 1929, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, daughter of Dwight and Lillian (Keith) Alderman. She graduated from McKinley High School in Cedar Rapids and then later attended Iowa State Teacher’s College. On February 2, 1952, Edwin and Shirley were united in marriage in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Shirley was a member at St. John Lutheran Church in Center Point. She had a wonderful collection of Precious Moments. Shirley was a caring and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who always had a hug and a kiss for everyone.
